Dr. Powell is committed to changing the lives of
many through his dedication and his focus utilizing qEEG and Neurofeedback. Over the past ten years Dr. Powell has worked with thousands of patients with numerous disorders and with the addition of neurofeedback he has successfully helped his patients regain their physical, mental and emotional health.
Dr. Powell is no stranger to the rollercoaster ride of multiple diagnosis. When he was 10 years old his doctor prescribe valium to curb his hyperactivity. By the time he was 16 his doctors had changed his diagnosis and prescribe lithium. At the age of 19 when all else failed the doctors once again change his diagnosis and placed him on Ritalin. As the years progressed the doctors eventually gave up trying to figure out what was wrong with him. Fortunately Dr. Powell never gave up on himself.
Dr. Powell early on knew that there was more to the story than a diagnosis or a pharmaceutical medication to cure his ailments. He also knew there had to be answers to why he had challenges with focusing, impulsivity, hyperactivity and so on. School teachers would constantly tell him how intelligent he was and if he could just settle down and focus on his work he could become anything he choose to. But every time Dr. Powell would ask them how he could accomplish this task no one could give him any direction. It was for that reason that Dr. Powell decide at the age of 12 to begin a life long journey in search of the answers to the questions that he posed to others. By his 13th birthday Dr. Powell had successfully learned self-hypnosis to help him in calming him from the hyperactivity. At the age 16 Dr. Powell had completed his first of many psychology text books and at the age of 17 graduated from high school and entered college.
Dr. Powell’s scholar life has been an adventurist and ongoing journey. Completing his first doctorate in 2004 and then went on to obtain two additional doctoral degrees, a Ph.D. in Nutrition and a Ph.D. in Psychology. Dr. Powell has been dually licensed in Idaho, Nevada, Washington DC and North Carolina as a naturopath, oriental medical doctor (acupuncturist) and an advance practitioner of homeopathy. Dr. Powell has served as the president of the Idaho Associate of Naturopathic Physicians and has also served as a board member for the Pastoral Medical Association. Dr. Powell is a certified Health and Wellness Coach as well as a certified person trainer and has donated his time over the five years to the YMCA teaching Tai Chi and mediation classes to their members.
Although the doctors were not equipped to help Dr. Powell overcome his adversities back then it was through the help of qEEG and neurofeedback that Dr. Powell was finally given the answers that he had sought out for all these years. With a little training and a strong motivation to succeed Dr. Powell set out with his best foot forward in an attempt to be the very best that he could be and it did. Since the beginning of his neurofeedback experience doctor Powell has not only scholastically excelled but he took it one step further and complete pilot training to become a private pilot, completed and certified as a PADI dive master, joined the Civil Air Patrol and successfully promoted to Major and serve three years as the commander for his local unit, joined the county search and rescue team where he become certified as a ground team leader, rescue diver and technical rope rescue certified. Dr. Powell has written and published three books, his latest was published 2011, Press the Fix Me Button, a self-help guided manual to assist his clients in overcoming adversity by changing the way they think about their past and a step by step guide toward making positive changes for their future.
Dr. Powell has worked with physicians and patients alike for over 8 years and has lectured as a keynote speaker throughout the United States. He has taught in small intimate groups and has as well taught with audiences well over 1000.
If you ask Dr. Powell what his passion in like is he will simply say; I wake up in the morning with a positive attitude and go forward into the day educating and sharing forward the wisdom that has been gifted to me. My passion is to learn and educate others.
